What to Do on Corner Kicks in Indoor Soccer

When you’re taking a corner kick in indoor soccer, you have a few choices regarding what you can do and what the rest of the players on your team can do. What you decide depends on several factors that I will outline in this article!

The first thing you need to take into account is that you don’t have much space to run up and kick the ball from, since it is probably situated so close to the boards. This means that you can’t kick the ball with much power, so you need to rely on finesse and placement.

One of the most typical things to do on a corner kick is to kick the ball straight along the boards towards the opponents goal. Your teammates should be in specific positions when you do this. One teammate should be right up next to the goalie, screening them and preventing them from getting to the ball as it goes into the box. Another teammate should be right at the far post of the goal, to tap the ball in if it squirts through the box – and it often will. Finally, a teammate should be at the top of the box, so if the defenders try to clear the ball, your teammate can intercept and take a shot.

Another type of corner kick is to hit the ball back to one of your defenders who is near the midfield line. This is effective for a few reasons. First of all, it opens up the whole field to you. Your defender can hit the ball to either side of the field, instead of just into the middle, like when you’re taking a corner kick. Also, on a corner kick, the opposing defenders are usually all in their box, or near it. That means that your defenders are unmarked, and they can take the ball and maybe even take a shot. Finally, it throws the opposing defense into disarray, because they don’t know who should mark your defender.

Another strategy is to kick the ball as hard as you can into the middle of their box. This relies on either your teammates or their team deflecting the ball into the goal. This is used much more in younger leagues, but it can surprise the other team and lead to a goal even in more mature leagues.

Since you now know what to do on corner kicks in indoor soccer, you should try the strategies out! Go out and play a game and test them out – they might even result in a goal or two for you!…

The Tailgate Party and Liability

We're only a few weeks away from the fall football season. Millions of rabid football fans will throw food and beverages into their favorite vehicle and head for the football stadium parking lots. When they arrive, the barbecue grills will come out, tables and chairs will be set up, team flags and banners will go up, and the ice chests will be filled with great beverages.

Now, why would I spoil that festive party atmosphere with an article about liability?

That's simple, my friends. I want to warn you about some very serious issues that could not only spoil your tailgate party, but drastically affect your financial future.

I'll be talking about tailgate parties thrown by both individuals and businesses because some of the potential problems are the same.

Problem Number One: is your legal liability at the football venue. You are parked in a public parking lot. You may be parked in a private lot. But either way, someone else owns the ground on which you sit. So, they could be found legally reasonable in case a guest gets injured on their promises. The problem arises when your participation is included. If you are taking up space with your truck, camper, motor coach or tent, along with tables, chairs, grilles, and such, you are adding to the number of things that could cause a personal injury. Chairs collapse, people trip on things, grilles blow up … and the personal injuries would not have occurred but for your tailgate party.

Problem Number Two: is injury to others from tainted food. Many times, tailgate parties go on for many hours. Food sets out on tables waiting for guests to load up their plates. But if someone gets food poisoning from food they ate at your tailgate party, you could be found liable for their injury, medical costs, loss of income from missing work, or even death.

To minimize your tainted food risk, be careful to keep your hot foods hot and your cold foods cold. Use covered dishes and throwaway plates and utensils. And refuse from serving foods that have a reputation for going bad, like potato salad or seafood.

Problem Number Three: is your legal liability for serving alcoholic beverages. If a guest gets injured at the tailgate party, or in the football stadium, or while driving home, or injures others because he is determined to be drunk, you could have found legally viable for furnishing the alcoholic beverages to him.

If you feel you must furnish alcoholic beverages, consider a drink voucher system to limit the number of drinks served. Or, serve alcohol for only a short period.

Serve plenty of non-alcoholic beverages: water, sodas, juices, coffee, tea.

Arrange transportation for inoxicated guests if they are leaving the tailgate party with some of your booze in their belly. Call a cab, use designed drivers, or get them home in your vehicle.

Do not sell alcoholic beverages at the tailgate party. No cash bar, no cash contribution jar displayed on …

Different Types of Fishing For Different Types of Folks

Fishing as a hobby, as well as a profession, comes in different types. For those who are inclined to enter as a sports hobby, here are some general information about the different types of fishing which you might venture in.

Fly fishing is the most known type to catch trout and salmon with its ancient angling method. This type of is usually in fresh or salt water areas and fly fishers uses fly rod and a fly line tool casting artificial flies.

Fishing line also uses the angling method just like the fly fisher. Basically catches their targets with a fishing rod consisting of line and a hook attached to it. Forms of fishing line include trolling and long line fishing. Trolling style joins fish by pulling the lure in the water and this is more common for big game fish like tuna and marlin. Long line fishing, on the other hand, is more of the commercial fishing in which fisherman will use one fishing line with thousands of baited hooks.

Hand fishing engages the hands in this form typically used in pearl or lobster diving. Others use a line that contains weight and lure. Different countries have different terms when using hand fishing for different kind of fish. In the US, they call it noodling when they fish for catfish. In the British Isles, the term trout tickling is termed to those who catch trout.

Some fisherman prefers a more primitive attack when fishing which they call Bow fishing. Just like the term itself, the fisherman will stand above the water and use a bow to shoot the fish

For fisherman who does not have boats or for those who have boats but are not that secure in navigating in certain areas they do the Kite fishing. This type of fishing attaches the kite to a fishing line.

When a fisherman scoops up sea life by hauling a chain mesh from their fishing down to the seabed, then they are dredging. It is usually done if they wanted to catch scallops and oysters.

So there you go, find your own type of fishing and see what you would enjoy best. …

Contribution of Different Disciplines to Leisure and Tourism Studies

Leisure and tourism studies are characterized by a diversity of approaches which come from different disciplines and use a variety of methods. As a result, studies often use an inter-disciplinary or multi-disciplinary approach, drawing on different frames of reference and different methodological approaches for conducting studies. To this end, researchers involved in doing research projects should take into consideration the research questions they want to answer based on the purpose of the research, such as whether to do a research study to build on the academic store of knowledge or to do a study for a professional client or business organization that is interested in research for marketing purposes. A researcher might regard these different approaches like a tool-kit which he or she can draw on, as appropriate, for doing a study on a particular topic for a particular purpose.

The different disciplines which have different approaches include these:

– the sociological approach, which has provided much of the foundation for leisure research, though much less for tourism studies. The sociological approach involves three major thrusts. One is doing social surveys, some of which is done for pragmatic reasons, and this is considered social research rather than truly academically-oriented sociological research. Such surveys involve a quantitative approach, based on using statistics and mathematical models of human behavior to make predictions about human behavior. This is sometimes called the “surveys and modeling approach.” A second sociological approach seeks to explain why people behave as they do in choosing the leisure activities they engage in; it is designed to look at the meaning of leisure participation or non-participation to different groups of people. One such approach to discovering meaning is the existential and symbolic interaction approach, which considers the way people negotiate their leisure participation in light of their relationships of different types – from personal and social relationships to their relationships with their community and networks at work. Finally, a third sociological approach is the critical approach which has taken various forms. One is the neo-Marxist approach which has looked at the way in which individuals can act freely and the degree to which they are constrained and influenced by the structure of their society. A key aspect of this approach has been criticizing the capitalist system for exploiting or manipulating people within the system who have little power. Numerous streams of critical theory have influenced this perspective over the last few decades, including the feminist perspective that has looked at the way women have responded to leisure in light of their lesser power in society. Some other critical approaches have included postmodernism, which has explored the role of electronic communications and the cultural artifacts produced by it. It has been especially interested in the content of these expressions of culture rather than in the behavior of the people creating those cultural artifacts.

– the geographic approach, which have been especially interested in the way spaces and landscapes affect people’s behavior and their perception of those spaces and landscapes, especially in …

The Fallacy of a 52.4 Break Even Rate

All over the internet I see people, even professional sports bettors, claim that a 52.4{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} win rate is required to break even betting on sports. The idea being brought forth is that in order to profit you must win more than half of your games.

That is a very dangerous idea. It leads people to take bad odds trying to achieve that rate. It also leads them away from better odds that make it easier to profit. The fact is, the win rate required to break even or profit is not set. It is totally dependent on the lines you play, and can range from 40 to 60 percent, or even more.

If you asked most sports bettors, the believe they will be able to quickly retire if they could only find a way to win 60{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} of their bets. That may be true if you bet exclusively on point spreads. But if you do that on money lines of -200 the only thing that will happen quickly is that you go bankrupt.

Win rates and profitability are relative to the lines you play. One player may win 55{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} of their bets and lose money, while another may win 45{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} at a good profit. The truth is, win rate has little to do with profiting on betting on sports.

The player who bets only at +150 will break even at a 40{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} win rate, while the player who bets only at -150 will break even at 60{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70}. The big question you should ask yourself is this. Is it easier to win 40{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} at +150, or 60{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} at -150?

The answer is that it is easier to win 40{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} at +150. The reason is that the books have to shade toward the dogs because most people tend to bet on favorites. That’s the inevitable result of the popular notion that you must win more than half of your bets to profit.

It easy enough to see in the lines. When a dog is +150, the favorite is usually close to -170. This example below is from Vegas Insider.

11/11 1:05 PM

51 Tampa Bay Boston

+150 -170

+150 -170

In order to break even on the favorite at -170, you must win 63{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} of the time. To break even on the dog at +150, you must win 40{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} of the time. In this case, a bet on the favorite is being charged an extra 20 because most bets will be on them, while the dog is going at the books estimation of the actual probabilities of the outcome.

When it comes to point spreads, you do in fact need 52.4{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} to break even at -110, and all players share the vig. But on money lines, the vig always gets paid by those who bet on the favorites. And you will find almost every line reflects a 3{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70} differential (63+40=103{5807dd84655f4134ecd9e5329f6029a509ca345e8618f0c2e20323bdeed6de70}). Not coincidentally, that pretty much reflects the break even percentage of your average spread bet.

The best advice is to forget about …

Raceway Insurance: Race Car Driver, Vehicle and Animal Racetracks

There is no doubt that racing – whether by auto, motorcycle, truck or other vehicle or animal – is a very hazardous sport. It is for this reason that insurance coverage is so important for the driver and track owner or sponsor.

Racing Car Driver Insurance

Known in the industry as AD&D Coverage, this insurance is designed specifically for the racing car drivers. Providing accident and health coverage for competing drivers, the companies that write this type of indemnity are most likely in the market for other sporting industries. In regard to racing car drivers, disability limits differ according to each individual insurer.

Vehicle Racetrack Insurance

If you have ever been part of the enthusiastic audience viewing a car, motorcycle or any other recreational vehicle race, you can well understand that there are significant risks to safety. Much like any highly populated sports event, there is the issues related to crowd control and bleacher hazards. In regard to third-party injury claims, vehicle racetrack insurance covers the owners and/or sponsors behind the event.

Specific scenarios in which a lawsuit may be initiated by an injured spectator include:

• When a grandstand or bleacher folds and falls

• When a member of the crowd is impacted by a participating car collision or accident

• When someone watching a practice session or actual race is hurt by debris hurled as a result of an accident

This particular coverage does not include protection for owners of vehicles or sports car drivers. Refer back to the above summary about racing car driver insurance for more on the topic.

Animal Racetrack Insurance

Prime examples of animal racetrack participants are horses and greyhounds, but other animals are also included. Significant risks include exposure to hay and any other combustible matter that is general part and parcel of the property. On the other hand of course, there is also the potential of damage to the involved animals as well as the possibility of damages caused by the animals to consider. The related liability factors are very much the same as any other sporting event. However, the fact that animals and employees and spectators are so close to each other, places an underscored hazard risk at the racetrack.

Then again, many of the racetracks have ongoing betting activity which clearly leaves exposure to criminal activity, defined by the indemnity industry as dishonesty exposure. When eateries are also a part of the framework, the related restaurant risk exposure and liquor liability exposure go hand in hand.

The Importance of Wearing Proper Basketball Attire

There is a reason why every sport has a uniform. Many people only see one or two reasons why there is a uniform and even more often people simply do not care why there is a uniform. Over the years uniforms have become more of a fashion statement then an important aspect of the game.

In reality, uniforms are important for the team and the players. There are actually four reasons why players are required to wear uniforms. Players should understand these aspects and learn to respect the uniform a little more.

The Basic Uniform

The basic uniform for basketball includes:

– a loose fitting jersey, usually sleeveless

– loose fitting shorts, usually at a length to the knee or slightly above

– good fitting shoes with good ankle support

Each element of the uniform is important and serves a purpose. The following outlines the purpose for the uniform and is something that all players should understand and respect. Teaching players about the reasons why they need to wear a uniform can cut down on players mistreating the uniform, forgetting parts of the uniform and simply ignoring uniform rules. Learning these can be especially important for children who are just learning to play the game with a team.

Movement

The loose fitting nature of the uniform allows a player to move quickly and without hindrance. Additionally, the fit of the shoe helps to ensure that the player has the right range of movement in their ankle to be able to be agile on the court. Movement can be restricted by tight clothing and binding uniforms which can really affect how good a player can play.

Safety

Uniforms also protect players. The right shoes will protect a player from common ankle injuries. A good fitting uniform will help to keep players from getting tangled in their uniform or otherwise getting hurt due to an ill fit.

Better Playing Ability

Wearing a uniform allows a player to focus on what they are doing instead of how they look. Too often people get caught up in their own appearance and forget what they are doing.

Wearing a uniform allows a player to focus solely on their game and being the best player possible. When they have a uniform, it is made to fit them and work for them. They will not have to worry about shoes that are too big or a too tight pair of shorts because they have the right uniform with the right fit.

Team Unity

Lastly, uniforms create the visual appearance of a team. Looking the same and all being in the same uniform helps to create that team mentality that makes for a great team that works well together and produces results on the court.

Fans immediately recognize the team by their uniform and for many fans they make it their uniform too, showing the team support by wearing their jersey.

Uniforms are important, as you can see. They are not just a way to make everyone look …

What Happened In The UK In 1993?

Here are the biggest news, sport and entertainment stories of 1993…

Britain’s longest recession since the 1930s was officially over as the economy grew during the first three months of the year. The Conservatives claimed credit for the upturn in fortunes but critics claimed it was luck more than anything else. However it was achieved, it was welcomed by the nation’s people who could now look forward to spending again.

One new place they could spend at being Buckingham Palace; the public being allowed inside for the first time ever during the summer of ’93. With the entrance fee being set at £8, it wasn’t cheap, but that did nothing to hold back demand; within a week of going on sale, all advance group booking slots to visit Buckingham Palace had been filled for the next three years.

Other news included an oil tanker carrying running aground near the Shetland Islands (resulting in 84,700 tonnes of crude oil being spilled into the North Sea and a major ecological catastrophe); and anti-racist demonstrations being held across London in response to criminal charges being dropped against two youths accused of murdering black teenager Stephen Lawrence.

In the world of sport, horse racing’s big event ‘The Grand National’ (with a worldwide audience of 300 million people) ended in ‘chaos’ after many of the riders had failed to realise a false start had been called and had set off around the racetrack. The Jockey Club was forced to declare the race void; meaning bookmakers had to re-pay the £75 million in bets that had been placed on the race (and miss out on their biggest pay-day of the year!).

On a personal mission to resolve alien related ‘chaos’, were FBI agents ‘Mulder & Scully’; their popular US series ‘X-Files’ coming across the Atlantic to UK screens. Motivated by the belief that Mulder’s sister had been abducted by little green men, they set about trying to find the ‘truth’. One place where the truth definitely wasn’t was on ‘Beavis & Butthead’s sofa. These boys spent ’93 becoming world famous for flicking between TV channels and playing football with frogs.

With Britain itself still struggling to come up with any blockbuster movies of it’s own, ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘Indecent Proposal’ were the major films to hit cinemas during the year. ‘Jurassic Park’ involved dinosaurs (really quite scary-looking, genuine ones!) running riot around a theme park created by an eccentric millionaire. ‘Indecent Proposal’ was another tale to involve a rich man (this time a billionaire played by Robert Redford); this guy offering a couple, who had just lost a fortune in Las Vegas, $1m to spend the night with the wife.…

Gymnastics History – A Brief Overview

Gymnastics, as an activity, has been around for more than

two thousand years in one form or another, from the ancient

Greek Olympics, to Roman ceremony, to today’s modern meets.

As an organized and truly competitive sport, gymnastics

has existed for a little more than a century. It was

introduced in the mid 1800s to the United States, where it

inexorably gained in popularity within school systems.

Amateur associations gathered together by the late

nineteenth century, offering classes and opportunities for

young people to join in on the fun. Eventually, these

associations began to have their own championships.

In 1896, at the first international Olympic games in Athens,

Greece, the sport we all know and love enjoyed its first

large-scale debut. Included in the Olympic tournament were

vaulting, parallel bars, pommel horse, and rings events for

men. The first women’s Olympic gymnastics events were held

in 1928. After the Olympics began to officially host

gymnastics, the World Championship gymnastics meet emerged

in the early 1900s, and it is still held to this very day.

Thus began a noble tradition that continues even in modern

Olympic games and in local, regional, national, and world

meets all over.

If you’re the parent of a young gymnast, odds are, people

are going to ask you, “Why did you choose gymnastics over

swimming, ballet, football, baseball, or soccer?” It is an

easy question to offer, but not a simple one to answer.

Their curiosity is entirely understandable–to the

uninitiated, may have a lower profile than others.

However, if you are indeed very serious about your child

participating in the sport, you can tell those people, with

great authority, that gymnastics is an excellent way to

spend time. Not only does it have a long and illustrious

history, but it also requires attention and discipline on

the part of a child–more so, perhaps, than one involved in

any other sport.

In order to become successful at the sport of gymnastics,

your child will have to get into a routine of practice.

This type of routine is different from, say, soccer

practice or hockey practice, in that it does not involve

the concept of physical rivalry with other individuals. A

gymnast is not typically seen chasing after another

gymnastics youth with a set of rings as one might see a

hockey player attacking another person on an opposing team.

Gymnastics does not encourage violence in the same way

contact sports do — indeed, when one is part of a

gymnastics team, one has to work in synchronicity with and

have a certain trust for the other members, a valuable

lesson in this individualism-driven social environment.

This can certainly help in any future employment,

especially if your child is interested in professions that

involve lots of interpersonal communication.

Beyond practice, gymnastics also requires physical

discipline. For instance, if you do not move in the way

that you are taught to move when on parallel bars, you will

have falls and disappointment–and then, of course, you

learn from …
