NCAA Bracket Predictions – Time To Start Winning!

If you would like to perform well with your March Madness bracket pool, there are a select few essential factors to think about. You MUST consider a team's momentum entering the ncaa tournament and how well teams did against the spread. A team's momentum can carry a ncaa team all the way into the ncaa brackets for final four. Take George Mason a few years ago for example, a NUMBER 11 SEED made it to the final four. Things like this are unheard of, but very possible in march madness. George Mason's glass slipper sure did fit in 2006 where this magical run took place. Many people never even heard of George Mason or did not know where they were even located until their magical run. Now they will go down in memories and the record book, and be known to all of sports as the Cinderellas that almost won the national championship. Your bracket for your ncaa basketball tournament may be all crossed out and marked if you follow the trend of 2007. 2007 was one of the only time in 23 years where there were not really any major upsets.

A team may have had an excellent run during the season, but when yet one player from the starting five is missing, this could change the entire team chemistry. Team chemistry is critical when you take in account high seeded teams contending in the ncaa basketball tournament. Please take note of any team missing one of their star player's; This is a critical component of your bracketology.

Make sure you check the March Madness previews on each team and check out some free ncaa basketball picks. If you do your research, you can stay away from choosing a team that only looked good on paper. If a team can not work together, it is going to spell disaster a mile away. Your basketball bracket pick by each round will suffer if you pick teams that lack chemistry. It is always clever to make sure how well a team is performing recently. For a team to do sound in the big game, it will need a great deal of momentum in order to go on to the final four. If a team is a number one seed and is struggling as of late, almost 90% of the time they will also struggle when they enter the tournament.

Sports college picks are the greatest picks online sports books have to offer. Some of the greatest sports books out there are my two most personal favorites: Sportsbook.com and BetJamaica.com. They offer a huge bonus for just signing up. A lot of the times they will 100% match whatever you deposit. Also, there are a great number of ways to cash out. Bank wire transfers are definitely by far the best. In 3-5 days, your money is in your bank account.

Whatever method you choose or whatever sports book you use to place your wagers on, I wish you all the best …

Want To Get Sick, Disgusting, Nasty Handles? How To Get Sick Handles!

Arguably the most important offensive skill is ball handling ability.

Without great basketball handles you’ll rack up a high number of turnovers on the basketball court and you’ll mostly have to rely on your teammates to set you up for a good look at scoring the basketball.

Imagine being able to break down your defender and create a high percentage shot for yourself whenever you want. When you have sick handles this becomes a reality and the game of basketball becomes that much easier. Every defender that steps up to you becomes a joke and you don’t need to rely on your teammates to help you score.

So here is how you get ridiculously sick handles.

Become one with the basketball. Dribble the basketball whenever you can. If you’re going outside to get the mail bring your basketball, If you’re going to walk your dog bring the basketball, if you’re going to pick up the mail bring your basketball.

Have you ever noticed that when a song is played on the radio frequently you end up memorizing the lyrics of the song without trying? This is because when you repeat something over and over it begins to stick and your brain memorizes it. So if you dribble the basketball frequently you will begin to build up muscle memory which is exactly what you want to do in order to get sick handles.

Try walking around your block while dribbling the basketball. This is great for muscle memory. Do ball handling drills that require you to dribble the basketball. Remember you need to do this frequently. How frequently depends on your schedule and the amount of free time you have in your day. Even finding 30 minutes a day to dribble the basketball is great.

Another way to get sick handles is to build your confidence. Look in the mirror and tell yourself you’re a great ball handler before you go out to your basketball game or go play at a basketball court. Tell yourself you are a great basketball player and you can blow by any defender you want. Tell yourself that you’re the best basketball player in the world. Repeating these phrases to yourself will boost your confidence and help you to handle the basketball more effectively.

Last but not least, is watching the greats. You can learn a lot from simply watching crazy ball handlers destroy their competition on the court. You will get to see what it looks like to have sick handles and therefore you can have an idea on how far away you’re from reaching that level and what you need to do in order to reach that level.

This is what it takes to get sick, disgusting, nasty handles.…

Do You Know How To Deal With People Who Mock And Ridicule You?

FACT: The Entrepreneur Is Without “Honour” Among Those Who “Know” Him

One of the greatest realities you may have to face(there are exceptions, as is the case with everything in life), when you formally announce to the world that you have become an entrepreneur, is that you do NOT know many people you think you know, as well as you think you do.

Godfrey Heron([http://www.irieisleonline.com]) in his Entrepreneur’s Survival Checklist described this shocking experience quite accurately when he wrote that people you love – friends, relatives, your spouse – will openly doubt you and sometimes even “predict” your failure.

In their eyes, you are just the same person they have always known and grown up with. People close to us seem to find it easier to think of us in terms of our past failures and weakest moments – the growing up years, and all the mistakes we made while trying to discover ourselves. They often miss the tremendous changes that have taken place inside us following from those experiences, especially AFTER we left home and explored the outside world on our own.

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable man persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” — George Bernard Shaw

My personal experiences confirm this. People who know you always think if they cannot see in you the potential for success in what you say you want to do, then it has to mean you cannot possibly succeed in it. And they can be quite insistent in tying to make you realise this “fact” of theirs.

In the process of trying to get you to be “reasonable” and see the folly in trying to pursue what they consider the “impossible” goal you have set for yourself, some will resort to tactless attempts at humour, and in some cases, ridicule your ideas and efforts outright – especially when you begin to record failures(temporary defeats). Heron however assures that this does not mean they do not love you – it’s something that just happens. Again, I agree.

Regardless of whether or not they love you however, I am of the firm opionion(based on personal experiences and extensive reading) that the truth is that their actions do not produce positive benefits of love. Napoleon Hill wrote about the psychologically destructive effect this kind of behaviour has on the person on whom it is inflicted, concluding that it often results in many men and women giving up on themselves and subsequently going through life with serious inferiority complexes.

There Will Be Exceptions!

As is always the case in life, there will be exceptions to the general situation I have described above. You may be lucky to have been born into a family of entrepreneurs, who have developed a culture of passing down entrepreneurial know-how from generation to generation. In that case, starting out in business, may not sound/look, to them, as “crazy” as wanting to take up employment in …

The Proven Health Benefits of Riding an ATV or Off-Road Motorcycle

Good news! The “first ever comprehensive probe of the fitness and health benefits of all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and off-road motorcycle (ORM) recreational riding” proves riding is as good as it feels.

The study

Conducted over several years by the York University Faculty of Health, co-supported by the Government of Nova Scotia and 3 riding associations, the study began with a meticulous countrywide survey to determine the ‘typical’ rider.

That was the entire first phase of this huge experiment.

Then researchers observed 128 riders, divided into 6 groups: 3 age classifications, male and female. After modifying these riders’ equipment, they could measure physical effects: heart rate; oxygen consumption; muscle fatigue and exertion, etc.

The findings

Riding an off-road vehicle requires genuine and serious physical effort. According to Canadian government fitness standards, it should positively affect your health.

While riding, riders’ use of oxygen increased by 3.5 to 6 times their level at rest. That’s 600% more! And according to standards set by the American College of Sports Medicine, that constitutes moderately intense physical activity.

That same moderate intensity taxes the heart and fatigues the muscles. How much? About the same amount as those other individual sports you take at your own pace, like skiing, golf or climbing.

A typical ATV ride was 2-3 hours; ORM was 1-2 hours. The amount of work required in the upper body and arms, if practiced regularly, was enough to increase muscle and skeletal fitness. And how regularly did they need to ride to begin realizing that increase? Just once or twice a week!

The biggie

Researchers also noticed the emotional high that fit people always talk about: “enhanced quality of life and stress reduction”. This surprised no riders.…

Horst Wein Recommends Small Sided Games for Grassroots Football Development

Horst Wein, who has mentored more than 11,000 soccer coaches in 55 different countries around the world, believes that small sided games are the most essential element in developing youth soccer players. This comes from a man who knows a thing or two about this vital topic – his book “Developing Youth Football Players” is the official textbook of the Spanish Football Federation, and has also been adopted by the Football Federation of Australia, having sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide.

Small sided games in Training

Coaches should focus more on games rather than drills in training. Isolating particular techniques and concentrating on them using repetitive drills and exercises is known as the “analytical method” and often poses difficulties when the players come to apply what they have been working on in the real game scenario. The “global method” of training involves creating more game-like scenarios in training that can be more seamlessly integrated into the actual game itself. This is done through creating simplified games, which are scaled-down versions of the real game, but that can focus on particular themes necessary in the real game.

The concept of using games rather than drills and exercises has been studied for many years all around the world. Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) has been applied to many different sports and been found to be very effective. In Australia, it is also known as “Game Sense” and “Play practice.”

There are many benefits to this games-oriented method in soccer:

1.Most importantly, players prefer to play games than to do drills (especially the younger ones).

2.The games can be modified through different variables to concentrate more on specific elements that need to be addressed; The size of the playing area, the number of players, duration of the game, technical rules etc, means that in the hands of a skilful coach, games may be used to achieve all the requirements of playing the real game.

3.Small sided games require smaller pitches and can be suited to any number of players.

4.Small sided games provide a much more intense physical workout than larger games.

5.Small sided games allow the coach to develop the players Game Intelligence, as they may focus on the true dynamics of the game of soccer e.g. the 2v1 situation.

Small sided games in competition

This means that the competitions that young people play should be tailored to the specific requirements of their age group.

“The competition you play should be like your shoes, it should fit you perfectly! “

Benefits of small sided games in competition (and training):

  • More touches of the ball
  • Simpler decisions to make
  • Better game-related fitness, short duration of high-intensity vs laps
  • More time with coach per player
  • Easier to coach especially for parent coaches
  • More opportunities to solve game problems
  • More attacking opportunities (dribbling, shooting, passing )
  • More defending opportunities
  • More shooting and more goals = more fun!
  • No hiding place, players don’t get lost in these games
  • More opportunities for the full range of skills

Sports Coaching: 5 Strategies for Dealing with Bad Attitudes

Ugh… the player with a bad attitude. It sounds like a serious sports cliché, but it’s true – they are like a cancer in the locker room, on the practice filed/ court and in a game. They can make things difficult for all of the athletes on the team with their constant problematic behavior.

But, believe it or not it is possible to put stop to it – or at least curb it by laying down a few ground rules to begin with. And it doesn’t hurt to get the player’s parents involved with this as well. It takes a lot of energy to deal with players that have poor attitudes, but they can be turned around, and the impact they have on the rest of the team can be significantly lessened.

Here are a few tools for dealing with problem athletes:

oLay the ground rules for players and parents – This is the first thing I would tell any coach – especially if they are running a community team as opposed to a school team. I’d even do it if it were a school team I was coaching. Plan a parent’s meeting and expect everyone to be there.

At this meeting you will explain to parents and players the conduct that is expected of players and the way they are to carry themselves on the practice field and when you play games. This is very Coach Carter, but it is preached in many current athletic club guidelines – coaches need to take control of the team immediately.

It is important to lay the foundation for: behavior, expectations, practices, games, and the role of the parents.

oDeal with the player as an equal – If you try to act condescending, or worse yet, call out a player in front of their peers, you might not get the response you want. Talk to the player behind closed doors and get them to take an active role in their team. Don’t talk down to them.

oTalk to team leaders – If you approach team leaders, they may be able to persuade or have an effect on the behavior of the player(s) with attitude problems. Peer pressure is often the best pressure to put on people.

oGive the player responsibility – Take advantage of the player’s influence and turn it into a positive. Get them involved with a major part of the team to try and generate positive interest in what the team is doing. You might be surprised with what they come up with.

oStay calm – Part of the attitude is to generate a response. Don’t let the player see that you are affected by what they are doing.…

Freestyle Soccer – Confused on Where to Start?

First of all, let’s start with a simple question, what is freestyle soccer? Freestyle soccer is simply the style and ability to combine various soccer tricks in juggling and ground moves. It’s a new trend in soccer along with other types like five a side futsal and beach soccer. In a soccer context, freestyle is perceived as less significance to the modern game. However, freestyle soccer does improve a footballer’s ability to control the ball.

The ball control is what I perceived as the most important element in soccer before other attributes like fitness and tactics. There’s a saying that if you can control the ball you can control the game. In fact, I stumbled one of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s, an Inter Milan player, quotes saying that as long as you have the ball, you’ll have the advantage. Yet majority of footballers still ignore the importance of freestyle soccer. There are reasons behind it and one of them is that the soccer tricks are difficult to execute and only brings less to the modern game. True enough, but let’s not forget the concept of ball control. Learning freestyle allows a player to enhance his touches especially the first touch. A great first touch buys you thousands of mili seconds to give you an edge over the opposition.

Those seconds could change the game in an instant especially in the modern game where it demands fast and furious soccer. As a result of those reasons, they don’t even bother in the first place. On the other side, the ones who love freestyle soccer perceived it as something that they can express their creativity and improve on ball control and touches to a greater heights. But I’m more concern to those who are ignorant and may not have the slightest interest on freestyle soccer. The problem is, they may not know where to begin especially after watching a series of freestyle videos on streaming sites like YouTube. I’m assuming that they only watched the difficult tricks and instead forget the basics of freestyle soccer. I believe that freestyle soccer should begin with the basics like juggling and planting before moving on to the more advanced soccer tricks like the around the world, crossover, flip flap and others. It’s important since juggling is the principle of all types of ball control along with dribbling. In this case, I shall focus on juggling since it’s related to freestyle soccer.

Juggling the ball

Simply done by doing kick ups without letting the ball fall on to the ground and expanded to different parts of the body from foot, thigh, shoulder and head. The aim is to be able to link your juggling skills from one part to the other. For example, transfer your juggling from foot to your thigh. You can start with a simple transfer and improve to more advanced transfers like juggling from foot to thigh and then head. Once you’ve mastered juggling, you can start planting or stalling a soccer ball.

How to Choose the Right Pair of Roller Derby Skates

Roller derby performance depends as much on your physical ability and training as it does on your equipment. The next question for would-be players is which type of skates to get. And no, you don’t want just any pair of roller skates. Here is some advice on how to choose the right pair of roller derby skates.

Royalty Free Photo

Don’t Rely on Standard Skates

The first thing to realize is that the average roller derby skates are going to be short boots over the tall classic boots that you use for skating around the roller rink. For many beginners, it can be a shock just to learn that the inline skates you enjoy wearing are not allowed. Depending on the league, inline skates are permitted for referees.

Make Sure They Fit Right at the Start

New skates must fit correctly when you try them on. They won’t get more comfortable as you use them; they don’t break in like sneakers, though they feel a lot like sneakers. They should fit properly with or else you’ll get blisters. Don’t buy expensive leather boots without padding that fit perfectly and then end up with other issues because you add padding for comfort that causes them to no longer fit right. Yes, expensive leather boots can take some time to break in and become more comfortable, but if they are uncomfortable from the start, it is only a matter of degree.

One good way to avoid making a mistake is trying out different brands, sizes and types of skates by renting them at the rink to find what size and style fits you best.

Understand Your Needs

The best roller derby skates are those that have the features you need at a price you can afford. For example, if you weigh more than 100 kilos (about 200 pounds), you want skates with fiberglass reinforced plates or basic aluminum plates. These are more durable than the cheaper skates that beginners buy. As your weight goes up, the hardness of the wheels also needs to go up.

Nylon plates are cheaper than aluminum plates. Fiberglass reinforced nylon is the next step up in price but shouldn’t even be a concern unless you’ve already made a serious commitment to the sport.

Truck angle is another factor to consider. A greater angle degree gives you more agility, while a lesser angle gives you more stability.

Do Your Research

Bearings on derby skates wear out much faster than those on your average roller skates. Research how often the bearings need to be replaced for each brand of derby skate you’re considering and the difficulty of both cleaning and replacing them. Another issue is wheel ratings. A wheel rating gives you an indication of how hard it is and how well it grips the floor. However, the variability is significant between brands.

A popular way to save money is by borrowing or buying vintage skates. However, the sport requires “derby wheels”. The average set of roller …

The Best Neck Strengthening Exercises and Routines

You can build a fairly strong neck with a great neck strengthening exercise or routine. If you are trying to build a great physique, you need to devote time to building a strong neck as well. There are many benefits to building a strong one.

Benefits of Having a Strapping Neck

You are into wrestling or mixed martial arts, you will benefit from having tough neck. It will help you resist being easily overwhelmed by your opponent. You will be able to control your opponent. It will protect you against injuries. You will be able to defend yourself against a choke. You will also be able to deal with punches more effectively if you have a well-built neck. A strong neck represents power and this will prove as a deterrent against attacks. Your opponent will think twice about attempting a choke against you.

Neck Strengthening Exercise Tips

You can actually get someone to help you with your neck exercises. In fact, having a partner and getting him to help you with your exercises can be fairly beneficial. This is also quite effective and it is a good option if you do not have the funds for good equipment or gym membership. You only need to get a few tools like a neck harness. Of course, you have to make sure that you get the best for durability, effectiveness and comfort. Here are some tips on how to strengthen your neck:

  • A harness is really great for developing the muscles in front of the neck, but you do not need the same thing to strengthen the back of your neck. You just need to have your partner sit on the back of your head – yes, the back – and he will perform abdominal work while he seats on top of your head.
  • To work the front of your neck, your partner should first stand up and straddle your body. He will have to put his hands on your forehead and then he has to pull your head back. You need to resist the pull and attempt to pull your forward while he continues to pull your head backwards. Try to do 3 sets of 10-20 repetitions.
  • To work the sides of your neck, you can also work with a partner to strengthen the sides. Many wrestlers ignore the sides of their neck, choosing to focus on strengthening just the front and the back. They do not realize that they can be hit anywhere. Their opponents can hit from all angles especially during a grappling match. In order to work on the sides, you need assume an all-fours position. Then, you need to place your head against a fixed object or equipment that is bolted on the floor. Once you have assumed the position, you can then push the side of your neck against the immovable equipment as hard as you can and maintain this for 10 seconds. Continue to breathe as you push your neck against the object. Do 6
