AAU Basketball – The Greatest Advantage and Hidden Risk of AAU Basketball Teams

The importance of AAU basketball has overtaken the high school basketball world. It has changed how high school players earn a college basketball scholarship. If you want to give yourself the greatest opportunity to succeed in today’s murky basketball world, start by understanding these truths.

Unfortunately, high school basketball has taken a backseat to AAU. In general, high school does offer a better environment to grow as a basketball player (depending on the coach). More practices, better team chemistry, deeper understanding of basketball concepts, community involvement, representing your school, etc.

The biggest problem is – the high school season is during the college season.

College head coaches are not primarily focused on recruiting during these months. They can’t be. Each coach at the collegiate level is extremely competitive and dedicated. They are constantly focused on their team throughout the whole season, and if they’re not, they’ll lose games… and then their job.

Once the college season is over their primary focus turns to recruiting. College coaches know recruiting is the lifeblood of their team. If they don’t have talent, their coaching career will be short-lived.

Enter AAU basketball.

AAU allows college coaches the ability to see players compete at a high level in the off-season. This is the main advantage AAU basketball has on high school basketball… and it’s a huge advantage.

If you want to play college basketball, get on a good AAU team that travels to the big tournaments in the off-season.

It’s common sense: more opportunities you get to play in front of college coaches, more likely they’ll notice your basketball skills, and begin to recruit you. Once you get noticed, momentum will build on itself.

But here’s the catch:

AAU basketball DOESN’T INCREASE YOUR INDIVIDUAL BASKETBALL SKILLS.

Before the AAU boom, players didn’t have practices and games year-round in the off-season. There was time to practice and improve your individual basketball skills.

Right now, players get lost playing to many games. The problem with playing games year-round is the COACH DESIGNS PRACTICE NOT FOR THE INDIVIDUAL PLAYER, BUT FOR THE TEAM.

So if you play year-round on an AAU team, you’re not developing your skills enough. Just because you’re on a team doesn’t guarantee you anything.

Two team practices a week will not help you individually as a basketball player!

You need to get in a gym and practice. Period.

Every year I got tremendously better as a player because I worked out consistently with a basketball plan. Ultimately, my superior basketball skills, enabled me to earn a Division-1, Full-ride, College Basketball Scholarship.

The great news is you can always improve as a basketball player. The method for consistently improving as a basketball player is fairly simple:

BASKETBALL WORKOUTS (consistently, intensely, and correctly) + PLAYING AGAINST GREAT PLAYERS = ADVANCEMENT TOWARDS YOUR BASKETBALL GOALS

This method will never get old throughout your basketball career. Every level you go to, keep using this method.

AAU basketball is a key component for furthering your basketball career past high …

Interesting Facts About Soccer Fields

Since soccer is probably the most popular team ball game in the world, some one would think that all the rules and regulations for this sport would have been formed and know from the beginning, or at least that there would be some definite rules, universally accepted and applied. This is partially true, since when it comes to terms like out, goal kick, foul, etc, we all understand the same exact thing. However there is an interesting detail when it comes to the length and size of the field.

The size of the field, when soccer was first introduced, was not defined and even the layout could be different even within the same country, which practically meant that someone could play in a field of 80yards and someone else in a 100yards. This fact was not only weird but also unfair for the players, so the first Association of Soccer, founded by the British in the 19th century, introduced the first guidelines for the appropriate length, and years later FIFA established the rules and exist currently.

Even now though the existing rules permit some kind of variation when it comes to size : the field has to be rectangular ( this rule cannot change and does not underlie to any kind of variation ), the length cannot be less than 100 yards (90 m), and no bigger than 130 (120 m) and its breadth cannot be less than 50 (45 m), and no more than 100 yards (90 m) . For international games this is a little more limited: length cannot be more than 120 yards (110 m) nor less than 110 yards (100 m), and the breadth not more than 80 yards (75 m)nor less than 70 yards (64 m).

In any case though, the length must always exceed the breadth. In modern soccer though rarely can someone see that big variations, so more or less all fields have approximately the same size without reaching the maximum suggested and allowed. The size though has to be reduced when it comes to women soccer or to fields allocated for players under the age of 16 or those with disabilities.

Except for the outer lines size there are rules that apply to the inner lines of the soccer field as well. According to those, the field is separated by a central line, which has the exact same distance from the each of the width end. There is always a circle, located at the middle of this line and its diameter has to be 10 yards.

Goal posts are placed at the middle of each pitch width and have to be 24 feet wide and 8 feet high and they are surrounded by two rectangular boxes: the bigger one, called penalty box since every foul in this area leads to penalty kick, is 18 yards wide and 44 long.

The small box, called protection area, is 6 yards wide and long. One more interesting rule about the size of the interior lines …

NCAA Bracket Predictions – Time To Start Winning!

If you would like to perform well with your March Madness bracket pool, there are a select few essential factors to think about. You MUST consider a team's momentum entering the ncaa tournament and how well teams did against the spread. A team's momentum can carry a ncaa team all the way into the ncaa brackets for final four. Take George Mason a few years ago for example, a NUMBER 11 SEED made it to the final four. Things like this are unheard of, but very possible in march madness. George Mason's glass slipper sure did fit in 2006 where this magical run took place. Many people never even heard of George Mason or did not know where they were even located until their magical run. Now they will go down in memories and the record book, and be known to all of sports as the Cinderellas that almost won the national championship. Your bracket for your ncaa basketball tournament may be all crossed out and marked if you follow the trend of 2007. 2007 was one of the only time in 23 years where there were not really any major upsets.

A team may have had an excellent run during the season, but when yet one player from the starting five is missing, this could change the entire team chemistry. Team chemistry is critical when you take in account high seeded teams contending in the ncaa basketball tournament. Please take note of any team missing one of their star player's; This is a critical component of your bracketology.

Make sure you check the March Madness previews on each team and check out some free ncaa basketball picks. If you do your research, you can stay away from choosing a team that only looked good on paper. If a team can not work together, it is going to spell disaster a mile away. Your basketball bracket pick by each round will suffer if you pick teams that lack chemistry. It is always clever to make sure how well a team is performing recently. For a team to do sound in the big game, it will need a great deal of momentum in order to go on to the final four. If a team is a number one seed and is struggling as of late, almost 90% of the time they will also struggle when they enter the tournament.

Sports college picks are the greatest picks online sports books have to offer. Some of the greatest sports books out there are my two most personal favorites: Sportsbook.com and BetJamaica.com. They offer a huge bonus for just signing up. A lot of the times they will 100% match whatever you deposit. Also, there are a great number of ways to cash out. Bank wire transfers are definitely by far the best. In 3-5 days, your money is in your bank account.

Whatever method you choose or whatever sports book you use to place your wagers on, I wish you all the best …

Want To Get Sick, Disgusting, Nasty Handles? How To Get Sick Handles!

Arguably the most important offensive skill is ball handling ability.

Without great basketball handles you’ll rack up a high number of turnovers on the basketball court and you’ll mostly have to rely on your teammates to set you up for a good look at scoring the basketball.

Imagine being able to break down your defender and create a high percentage shot for yourself whenever you want. When you have sick handles this becomes a reality and the game of basketball becomes that much easier. Every defender that steps up to you becomes a joke and you don’t need to rely on your teammates to help you score.

So here is how you get ridiculously sick handles.

Become one with the basketball. Dribble the basketball whenever you can. If you’re going outside to get the mail bring your basketball, If you’re going to walk your dog bring the basketball, if you’re going to pick up the mail bring your basketball.

Have you ever noticed that when a song is played on the radio frequently you end up memorizing the lyrics of the song without trying? This is because when you repeat something over and over it begins to stick and your brain memorizes it. So if you dribble the basketball frequently you will begin to build up muscle memory which is exactly what you want to do in order to get sick handles.

Try walking around your block while dribbling the basketball. This is great for muscle memory. Do ball handling drills that require you to dribble the basketball. Remember you need to do this frequently. How frequently depends on your schedule and the amount of free time you have in your day. Even finding 30 minutes a day to dribble the basketball is great.

Another way to get sick handles is to build your confidence. Look in the mirror and tell yourself you’re a great ball handler before you go out to your basketball game or go play at a basketball court. Tell yourself you are a great basketball player and you can blow by any defender you want. Tell yourself that you’re the best basketball player in the world. Repeating these phrases to yourself will boost your confidence and help you to handle the basketball more effectively.

Last but not least, is watching the greats. You can learn a lot from simply watching crazy ball handlers destroy their competition on the court. You will get to see what it looks like to have sick handles and therefore you can have an idea on how far away you’re from reaching that level and what you need to do in order to reach that level.

This is what it takes to get sick, disgusting, nasty handles.…

Do You Know How To Deal With People Who Mock And Ridicule You?

FACT: The Entrepreneur Is Without “Honour” Among Those Who “Know” Him

One of the greatest realities you may have to face(there are exceptions, as is the case with everything in life), when you formally announce to the world that you have become an entrepreneur, is that you do NOT know many people you think you know, as well as you think you do.

Godfrey Heron([http://www.irieisleonline.com]) in his Entrepreneur’s Survival Checklist described this shocking experience quite accurately when he wrote that people you love – friends, relatives, your spouse – will openly doubt you and sometimes even “predict” your failure.

In their eyes, you are just the same person they have always known and grown up with. People close to us seem to find it easier to think of us in terms of our past failures and weakest moments – the growing up years, and all the mistakes we made while trying to discover ourselves. They often miss the tremendous changes that have taken place inside us following from those experiences, especially AFTER we left home and explored the outside world on our own.

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable man persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” — George Bernard Shaw

My personal experiences confirm this. People who know you always think if they cannot see in you the potential for success in what you say you want to do, then it has to mean you cannot possibly succeed in it. And they can be quite insistent in tying to make you realise this “fact” of theirs.

In the process of trying to get you to be “reasonable” and see the folly in trying to pursue what they consider the “impossible” goal you have set for yourself, some will resort to tactless attempts at humour, and in some cases, ridicule your ideas and efforts outright – especially when you begin to record failures(temporary defeats). Heron however assures that this does not mean they do not love you – it’s something that just happens. Again, I agree.

Regardless of whether or not they love you however, I am of the firm opionion(based on personal experiences and extensive reading) that the truth is that their actions do not produce positive benefits of love. Napoleon Hill wrote about the psychologically destructive effect this kind of behaviour has on the person on whom it is inflicted, concluding that it often results in many men and women giving up on themselves and subsequently going through life with serious inferiority complexes.

There Will Be Exceptions!

As is always the case in life, there will be exceptions to the general situation I have described above. You may be lucky to have been born into a family of entrepreneurs, who have developed a culture of passing down entrepreneurial know-how from generation to generation. In that case, starting out in business, may not sound/look, to them, as “crazy” as wanting to take up employment in …
