How To Find Elusive Football Draws

The football draw game – hard to find them isn’t it? Eight of these are key to winning the UK treble chance football pool, but maybe you just want to find two or three for a specialised fixed odds bet, or a range of trebles, maybe in an Australian, German, Spanish or Italian league. Typically, on a league weekend in the UK football season and 49 matches on the coupon, there will be on average, 9 scoring football draws, and of these, many will have been predictable using a good forecasting system. No-score football draws average out at about 4-5 per week.

How do we find them?

Well, in the British league season, most teams play close to ‘form’, but Cup matches are more of a lottery when ‘giant killing’ happens fairly frequently, and are best avoided if you are serious about winning the football pools. So, to start, we only bet when the odds are optimal, and that means league games. In fact, we don’t bet when ‘form’ is likely to be compromised – e.g. on Boxing Day.

With a good football draw forecast system, you will be able to keep track of form and eliminate those matches which are certain home wins – there could be typically 22 home wins, many of which will have been easy to predict. As to away wins, these are harder to predict, and there will be, on average, 13-14 away wins on the coupon each week.

So, let’s say that we can predict 90% of the home wins – that’s roughly 19 matches, and maybe 50% of the away wins – that’s another 7 matches. So, out of the coupon as a whole, with a reliable forecasting system we can expect to predict 26 matches (homes and aways). That leaves 23 matches, from which we have to find 8 football draws.

Now, with a good plan or perm, which combines maybe 17 or 18 forecasts – some plans even give a coverage of 24 matches, then you can see that the odds of getting 8 football draws in a line are considerably enhanced. Sure, using a plan means that you sacrifice perfection to achieve greater coverage (after all there are 451 million ways of selecting 8 football draws from 49 matches). You probably will not hit the jackpot, but you will have more frequent wins of lower value, and should be able to move into profit.

So, you can see that an efficient football draw prediction system is essential.

What are the key aspects of a good football draw forecast system?

Well, besides knowing when to stake and when to avoid betting and throwing your money away, you have to be able to analyse form and come up with football draw predictions. When it comes to form, how far back should you go? How will a team which was promoted from the Championship perform in the Premier League (and vice versa?)

Evolution of the Basketball Hoop

Basketball has been around for more than 100 years, and while even within the past 30 years the game has gone through major changes, what’s really impressive is how much the actual equipment has changed since the game was first invented, in particular how far the hoop has come.

The original basketball hoop was just a peach basket nailed to a 10 foot high track by Dr. James Naismith as a way to create an indoor game for his students to play when it was too cold outside during the New England winters. This “hoop” still had the bottom to the basket and required that somebody retrieve the ball (which was just a soccer ball at the time) after each score.

Eventually the bottom of the peach basket was cut out, but the ball was still too large to just pass through on its own and required a long dowel rod be used to pop the ball out after each score, which broke up the flow of the game, but was still faster than having to manually retrieve the ball after each score.

Eventually in 1906 metal hoops began to be used and a backboard was introduced to prevent spectators from interfering in the game, a problem that had arisen in the past when the hoops were just nailed to the mezzanine level balcony in whatever hall the game was being played in. The introduction of the backboard also changed the game as it introduced rebounds.

Eventually the backboards were moved from being nailed to various balconies and the upright basketball hoops that we know today were introduced. The backboard material itself has changed over the years, moving from the white plastic/fiberglass materials of the past to glass, which in turn gave way to shatter-resistant safety glass not unlike what’s found in cars.

The entire hoop setup went through numerous changes in the last 40 years, in part because of the advent of players destroying backboards with dunks. In addition to the advent of shatter-resistant glass, tear-away rims were introduced that also helped reduce the safety hazard presented by the potential for a slam dunk to destroy the backboard.

More recently, the entire basketball system was redesigned when larger players became capable of tearing down the entire hoop and backboard system, creating a safety hazard no just to themselves, but to the players and spectators around them. The new hoops have several mechanisms in place to prevent them from being torn down, including more pieces that can just tear away in smaller pieces as opposed to bringing the entire backboard down.

It will be interesting to see what changes the sport continues to make to the equipment as technology advances. Will we one day see floating hoops and backboards that eliminate the upright post that can be a collision hazard? Only time will tell, but I for one look forward to finding out.…

New eBook Reveals Snowboarding Tips & Tricks

First some history, snowboarding originated in the US in the 1960's. Early boards were very rudimentary in design compared to the models available today. More recent designs reflect the variety of riding styles that have emerged within the sport.

The growing recognition of snowboarding around the world is evidenced by its establishment as a sports discipline in 1995. Snowboarding competitions have been taking place for approximately 20 years, and include events such as the halfpipe, boardercross, slope and parallel giant slalom. As such, snowboarding has been included in events in Winter Olympics and Winter X-games. It even has a US Open tournament of its own. The growth of snowboarding as a sport is undeniable as more and more people get hooked on it.

Now that you are among the countless ones who want to try out the fun and excitement that only snowboarding can give, it is high time that you learn the basics of making your very first downhill ride on a snowboard. So how do you begin?

First, you need to procure the necessary snowboarding equipment. If you already have the necessary equipment, you can start learning the basics of riding your snowboard. Here are a few important things to remember as you start to find your destiny in snowboarding.

Keep in mind that snowboarding is similar to snow skiing. The body movements that enable you to control and stabilize your snowboard are the same as the movements in skiing. Therefore, if you are already a skilled skier, there will be fewer problems for you ahead. A skier will have an easier time than a skateboard thrasher to learn snowboarding.

Always be in a relaxed position. Like any sport, snowboarding requires a calm and hang-loose mindset. Most accidents and injuries in snowboarding happen when one is in tensed position. As you mount your snowboard, keep your knees bent; A stiff stance will only make you absorb impacts between your snowboard and snow.

Try steering the snowboard over the small area you are in. Practice making turns, learn the finer points of toe-side turns, which means turning by lifting your boots up while pressing your toes to the snowboard; Or heel-side turns, which make use of your heads for your turning. Once you have mastered the basics of balancing and steering your snowboard, you can move to a larger patch of snow, but do not try a long and steep slope just yet.

Now that you have actually moved on your snowboard, you have to learn how to stop your snowboard. Stopping a snowboard basically requires making more turns until you find your self going for an uphill position. An uphill direction will surely slow your snowboard down until you are in a complete stop.

After learning all the basic riding movements, you are ready for the next level. This is where Matt Belair's Snowboard Academy comes in!
Matt Belair is a certified Level 2 snowboard instructor who set up an online snowboard camp. The Snowboard Academy provides an …

Head Injury Prevention in Ice Skating

Introduction

Physical activity is an essential part of being healthy. In children, activity helps build strong bones and muscles, decreases the likelihood of developing obesity, and promotes positive mental health. Children are recommended to have 60 minutes or more of physical activity daily.

In the United States, more than 30 million children and teens participate in sports. Of that number, approximately 3.5 million children and adolescents ages fourteen and under are hurt annually while participating in recreational activities. In 2002, The National Safe Kids Campaign estimated that 13,700 children were treated in hospital emergency rooms for ice skating related injuries. Many of these are preventable head injuries if protective equipment, such as helmets or halos, is used.

Gliding across the ice, with the cool wind whipping across a skater’s face is an exhilarating feeling. One push can propel a skater far down the glistening, snowy surface. Worrying about a head injury is often far from a skater’s mind, as many participants are not aware of the possibility of head injury from ice skating. The goals of this article are to raise awareness about potential head injury from ice skating and to promote the use of helmets in skating, similar to what is required in cycling, skiing, and ice hockey.

Review of Injury Statistics

A concussion is a mild form of head injury, usually due to a blow to the head, which may cause disorientation, memory loss, or unconsciousness. Repeated concussions and loss of consciousness can result in traumatic brain injury or TBI.

An estimated 10% of all head and spinal cord injuries are due to sports related activities. Socially, athletes can feel undue pressure from family, coaches, and teammates to return to play quickly after a head injury. These influences can prevent an athlete from receiving the medical care he or she requires. In particular, parents and coaches can push their children too hard in an attempt to fulfill their own athletic aspirations. Athletes who return to play too soon or who suffer repeated injury to the head can develop chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, whose symptoms can include slowed speech, confusion, tremors, and mental deterioration. Most recently, CTE gained media attention when a settlement was reached with the National Football League, or NFL and thousands of players and families. The case, which involved more than 4,500 plaintiffs, calls for the NFL to pay for medical exams, compensation, and research related to head injuries sustained while playing professional football. Plaintiffs are committed to making the game safer at all levels and to educate the public; including parents of the four million children who play youth and high school football. Plaintiffs are committed to helping the focus on player safety trickle down to the youth level.

Awareness and education are key factors in injury prevention and return to play decisions. When an athlete suffers a head injury, a sideline assessment using the Standardized Assessment of Concussion should be completed by a medical professional. If a physician is not available, the coach …
